Flow and tension relief are disconnected

Flow and tension release disconnectors are designed for applications that require a reliable release tool but it is not possible to drop the release ball.

A pressure drop occurs when flowing through a tool that activates the release mechanism on the Flow Release Tool. The nozzles inside create pressure drops, and various nozzle configurations should create different pressure drops and determine the release rate.

The tool is designed to be fail-safe to avoid accidental release, but if release becomes necessary, the disconnection can be achieved by simply directing the flow through the tool to a predetermined rate and simultaneously applying a superpull at the tensile limit of the predetermined shear pin load.
